IML4E has reached its third milestone

With the completion of the deliverable IML4E-D4.2-Initial MLOps methodology and the architecture of the IML4E framework, the IML4E project has reached its third milestone. Accomplishing this milestone, we have defined an initial version of the IML4E framework. This includes methods, techniques and tools for efficient data preparation as well as for automation of activities in training, testing and deployment of models.

IML4E Meetup series started in Budapest

Third physical IML4E Plenary in Budapest

This week the third physical plenary meeting of the IML4e project took place. We met with more than 20 people at the Budapest Technical University. We had fruitful discussions around our current main focus point the IML4E framework.

After 13 months we have now, with some delay, reached our second project milestone in the IML4e project. The milestone includes the completion of a total of 4 technical deliverables, 3 of which are publicly available.

Second physical IML4E Plenary in Berlin

Last week the second physical plenary meeting of the IML4e project took place. We met with more than 20 people in Berlin at Fraunhofer FOKUS. The discussions focused on the IML4E Framework and the IML4E Experimentation Platform, two project innovations that are jointly developed by all partners.

Successful IML4E Plenary in Helsinki

Over the past three days, the first physical IML4E plenary meeting has taken place in Helsinki. After almost a year of project work under corona conditions, our three-day meeting allowed us to see how productive meetings can be when people actually sit face-to-face. We were able to enjoy three full days of exciting discussions about our case studies, their requirements and the technical solutions planned in the project, as well as the related research.

This afternoon the first Advisory Board meeting of the IML4E Project Advisory Board took place. The board is supposed to extend the reach of the project specifically in the software industry and to discuss the results of the IML4E project with selected stakeholders at an early stage.

In the last three days, after the kick off in autumn, the first plenary meeting of the IML4E project took place. Instead of the originally planned meeting in Helsinki, we had to settle for a virtual meeting this time.

Initiation of further standardization activities

In the last two weeks Fraunhofer FOKUS and the German IML4E consortium have initiated further activities with regard to the exploitation of IML4E results in standardization. Participants from Siemens, Software AG, Spicetech and Fraunhofer FOKUS presented their research ideas and first results.

IML4E at DIN/DKE NA 043-01-42 GA

Jürgen Großmann, project coordinator of IML4E, presented the IML4E project in the DIN/DKE NA 043-01-42 GA meeting on Thursday January 13th 2022. The standardization committee DIN/DKE NA 043-01-42 – Artificial Intelligence is the national standardization body with the task to mirror the standardization activities of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 as well as the CEN/CENELEC Focus Group on AI. DIN/DKE NA 043-01-42 is responsible to bring the German opinion into the committees of ISO and CEN/CENELEC and to develop proposals for standardization topics on all levels.

IML4E at Eclipse AICE OpenLab meeting

Today, Fraunhofer researcher Jürgen Großmann, coordinator of the IML4E project, participated in the Eclipse AI, Cloud & Edge (AICE) meeting in Brussels. The AICE OpenLab WG manages and operates an open lab that provides a range of resources to promote the further development, implementation, and verification of open source software for AI, cloud, and edge computing. The working group meeting highlighted the benefits and role that open source and open platforms will have for sustainable industrial adoption of AI and ML. Presentations from AI4EU, Redhat, Mindspore, Huawei and others presented ideas and goals for their contribution to building a community-based cloud and AI platform especially considering an open source perspective. If you are interested in the Eclipse AI, Cloud & Edge (AICE) working group, check out their website. IML4E looks forward to working with the AICE Open Lab in the future.

In a Project Reports Session, Jürgen Großmann, as coordinator of the IML4E project, presented the project goals and project innovations of the IML4E project to a wider audience. The subsequent discussion provided interesting opportunities for cooperation with other research projects and interested scientists.

The Finnish partners receive funding
Date: Fri., 12. Nov. 2021
After a thorough review and a little later than expected, we have received the good news that the Finnish Consortium will be funded. This ensures the participation of Basware, Granlund, Reaktor, Silo AI, and the University of Helsinki in the IML4E project. IML4E now includes 12 partner organisations from industry and academia.
